Caronte - Voronoi Radial: Quick Start
With this tool it is possible to create radial patterns, suited to the creation of breaking glass or stucco.
Terms and Definitions
Annulus (red area)
This is the area in which the rings are created, defined through “Annulus internal radius” (Aint) and “Annulus external radius” (Aext).
Rings (red circles)
The radial patterns consists of concentric rings around a centre (S = "Source" object). The numbers represent the "Rings number inside annulus" parameter.
Rays (red lines)
A star-shaped structure that origins in the centre of the radial pattern (S = "Source" object) and cuts the rings. The numbers represent the "Rays number" parameter.
Reference System
The fragmentation pattern is created at the position of a helper object ("Source") and projected on a 2D plane along the source's X, Y, or Z axis:
- The pattern's orientation is specified with the "Front direction" options: X, Y, and Z.
- When the source object is rotated the fragmentation pattern will be rotated as well.
Quick Start
The mode of operation is easy:
- Add the object you want to break into pieces.
- Create a reference object to determine the radial patterns orientation.
- Position the reference object (W key) to define the centre of the radial pattern.
- Select the object you want to break apart.
- Object Dynamics shelf > Voronoi Radial
- Add the reference node to “Source”, complete the UI's input fields, press “OK”.
The original object is kept and the fragments are grouped under a → MultiBody. If you do not need them any longer the reference and the original object can be deleted.
