Standard Particles

Standard Particles

Standard particle fluids are mainly used for small- or mid-scale projects. If you want to simulate huge volumes of water with splashes, foam, and bubbles, we recommend using RealFlow's → Hybrido technology. For faster simulates always consider → Dyverso.

Basic Setup

Setting up a standard particles fluid scene requires just a few steps – the parameters are available under → "Node Params":

  • Add an emitter, e.g. "Circle"; a domain node will be created automatically.

  • Adjust the emitter's parameters, e.g. "Viscosity" or "Surface Tension". "Resolution" controls the number of particles.

  • Add a force daemon like "Gravity" to accelerate the particles.

  • Hit "Simulate".

Main Properties

Standard particles are able to

  • interact with static objects, rigid and soft bodies; rigid and soft bodies show a correct buoyancy/floating behaviour

  • interact with RealWave surfaces

  • create wet-dry maps

  • save a wide variety of channels like density, velocity, vorticity, temperature, etc.

  • create a very high level of detail.

The main limitations are:

  • Simulation speed

  • No GPU-support

  • Limited elastic, gas, and high-viscosity capabilities

  • Standard particles cannot interact with Dyverso and Hybrido

Fluid Types

RealFlow's standard particle fluids provide a wide variety of different fluid types. To switch between the various types go to Emitter > Node Params > Particles > Type.

Gas

Low-level gas solver. Does not create the typical swirling gas/smoke/fire structures.

Liquid

A highly accurate fluid type with a robust fluid-object interaction.

Dumb

Ballistic particles, unable to interact. Good for massive spray effects.

Elastics

Low-level spring-mass solver for jelly- or rubber-like substances.

Script

Create your own fluid solver with Python scripting.
