Maya - Volumetrics
The Maya plugin has multiple ways to export nodes as Maxwell Volumetric extensions:
- Volumetric node: the volumetric extension equivalent
- Volumetric modifier: node that gets attached to Maya particles or nParticles and marks them to be exported as a volumetric extension
- Maya fluids: Maya fluids are exported as volumetric extensions.
Volumetric Node
The volumetric node is a Maya node that gets exported as a Volumetric extension. To create a volumetric node click the button in the Maxwell shelf. This will create a default node set to constant density.
There are no attributes specific to Maya. All the parameters are explained on the Volumetric extension page in the main Maxwell documentation.
Volumetric Modifier
The volumetric modifier is a node that you attach to a Maya particle or nParticle to instruct the plugin to export the particles as a volumetric extension. To create a volumetric click on the button in the Maxwell shelf. This will attach one volumetric node to every selected Maya particle or nParticle.
The volumetric modifier parameters are a subset of the volumetric extension parameters. A more in depth explanation of the effect of each parameter can be found on the Volumetric extension page in the main Maxwell documentation.
Maya Fluids
The plugin can export voxel data from maya fluids. Maya fluids have a default material which cannot be translated into a Maxwell approximation. It is recommended to assign a Maxwell material by right clicking the fluid in the viewport and selecting Assign New Material.
