Rhino 6 and newer - Main settings
The Rendering panel hosts the most important settings for the scene setup. It’s important to set Maxwell for Rhino as the current renderer to be able to see all the options below.

Backdrop
You can choose from here which is the environment that is going to be used with Maxwell. We suggest using a Maxwell Environment in the 360º Environment option for better control, however, the plugin will try to translate the rest of the options to Maxwell as explained in the following table:
Option | Translation into Maxwell |

Solid color | Constant dome (it’s actually a true 360º environment) with the Zenith and Horizon colors sharing the same one set in Rhino. |
Gradient | Constant dome (it’s actually a true 360º environment, so it won’t match exactly) with Rhino’s top color set to the Zenith and Rhino’s bottom color applied to the Horizon in Maxwell. |
360º Environment with Maxwell Environment | The selected Maxwell environment will be translated exactly as it is set in Rhino’s Environment panel. You can check its options here. The one selected here will be the one used in the render. |
360º Environment with Rhino’s Basic Environment | If it has an image set as background: Image-Based environment using the Studio background image as a texture for all the IBL channels. |
If there's no image set as background: Constant dome with the Zenith and Horizon colors sharing the same one set in Rhino. | |
Wallpaper | Image-Based environment using the Viewport wallpaper image as a texture for all the IBL channels. The image will have the screen mapping option active regardless Stretch to Fit option is active or not. |
Maxwell for Rhino
Describes the most technical settings of the plugin: render settings, Multilight, extra sampling, Denoiser, output settings, channels,… It is organized into four tabs:
Including Render Settings, Multilight, Extra Sampling and Denoiser sections.
Including File and folder settings and Channels section.
Including Global switches, Illumination and Caustics, and Export options.
Including Tone-mapping, Simulens and Overlay text options.
