Cinema4D - Version History

Version 5.2.4 - 22 Sep 2022

  • Added support for Cinema4D 2023

The plugin won’t work when using Cinema 4D S26 and 2023 on Mac computers using the new Apple Silicon M1 processors. It will work in Cinema4D R25 or older by changing Cinema4D to Intel mode using Rosetta.

Version 5.2.3 - 01 Jul 2022

  • Added support for Cinema4D S26

The plugin won’t work when using Cinema 4D S26 on Mac computers using the new Apple Silicon M1 processors. It will work in Cinema4D R25 or older by changing Cinema4D to Intel mode using Rosetta.

  • The installer now finds the Cinema 4D installation folder more reliably (Windows only).

  • During the export process, Maxwell Hair could crash Cinema4D

  • The Alpha channel texture used in Standard Cineam4D materials produced an inverted effect inside Maxwell Render in Cinema4D S24 and R25 only.

Version 5.2.2 - 19 Oct 2021

  • Added support for Cinema4D R25

  • Maxwell Mesher didn’t work

Version 5.2.1 - 06 Jul 2021

  • Added support for Cinema4D R24

  • Built for Maxwell Render

  • New “Import VRay Scene” command and button in the Maxwell menu. It converts .vrscene files to Maxwell and imports them into the scene.

  • The Maxwell Material didn't show the texture in the viewport in Cinema R23 and S22. It is currently fixed but the texture resolution is constrained to the c4d texture resolution.

  • The Maxwell tags (Rendering Region, Camera Z-Clip, Grass, Volumetric) didn’t draw their features in the viewport in Cinema R23.

  • (Windows only) The selection in the viewport of the imported objects after using the “Import VRay Scene” tool doesn’t work properly. This is fixed if you save the cinema file and load it again.

  • Maxwell material texture display resolution cannot be changed; the plugin will use the C4D provided resolution.

Version 5.2.0 - 09 Mar 2021

  • Added support for Cinema4D R23.

  • Built for Maxwell Render

  • Removed support for Cinema4D R14 to R19.

  • New Denoiser implementation in Maxwell Render. Only one pass is needed, the denoiser information is now stored in the mxi file as another channel, better memory management for the denoising process, and more consistency in general.

  • New Denoiser options in the Maxwell Scene Object > Engine tab > Denoiser section:

    • New Tiling option with maximum tile size option.

    • New fine-tuning options: Color Influence 1 and 2, Feature Influence, Final Pass, Filter Radius and Firefly Remover options. Check this link for more information: Denoiser documentation page.

  • New Denoiser channel added in the Maxwell Scene Object > Output tab > Render Channels section as now the Denoiser is treated as another channel. This channel activation is synced with the Denoiser enabler in the Engine tab.

  • New Substance Designer extension with support for .sbsar files.

  • The Denoiser “Start with SL” value is forced to be between 3 and 50.

  • The Denoiser “Start with SL” default value has been changed to 8 (it was 4).

  • (Cinema4D R21 only) The plugin didn’t load in some rare cases. After this fix, the oldest R21 version supported is R21.200.

Version 5.1.1 - 16 Jul 2020

  • Built for Maxwell Render

  • (C4D S22 only) C4D viewport didn't show the color of the Maxwell Material.

  • Substance Painter extension doesn't read texture "Normal" automatically.

  • Added support for Cinema 4D S22.

  • Added a button to control the used GPUs for the GPU render engine.

  • New "Multilight group" property in the Maxwell material editor for emitters.

  • Maxwell Grass Initial Angle default value changed from 10º to 80º (so it points up as it should).

  • Now the plugin Help option opens the new Maxwell 5 documentation pages.

  • UI text "Quality" changed to "Engine" at the Render Engine popup selection.

  • Adding geometry while Fire was running could cause some missing triangles in the exported geometry.

  • Fire may show the materials incorrectly assigned to certain objects when Fire is running and you are editing a new material in the material editor at the same time; a Fire refresh will get everything back to normal. This doesn't affect the main render.

  • Changing Fire from CPU to GPU while running may show some missing triangles; refreshing Fire will show everything fine again. This doesn't affect the main render.

Version 4.2.3 - 01 Oct 2018

  • (R20 only) Opening mxed from Cinema 4D started a new material with empty settings.

  • (R20 only) It was not possible to change the Camera Rendering Region tag parameters, because those were in a disabled state.
