RFConnect | Lightwave

The following chapters contain a description of the LightWave connectivity plugin set. With these tools it is possible to exchange data between RealFlow and LightWave – you can export objects from LightWave to RealFlow and vice versa. The imported objects and particles are then shaded and rendered. RealWave surfaces and animated objects are supported as well.

Frequently Asked Questions and Troubleshooting

Why isn’t the RealFlow plugin installed in LightWave?

Please make sure that you have installed the correct version for your LightWave distribution into the correct folder.

Why is it not possible to load particles into Lightwave?

Please check the path for particles and their padding size.

Why is it not possible to load meshes into Lightwave?

Check the path for the mesh and its padding size.

Is it possible to import RealWaves as BIN and SD files?

Yes. In order to import BIN files you need import them as mesh. If you use the SD file you have import them as SD.

Why aren’t the particles exported from Lightwave?

Please check if the object is selected in the "Item" tab and has a valid export path.

Why do I have a "Missing file error" while loading a scene with a RealFlow mesh?

Lightwave assigns a LWO file for each object in the scene. The RealFlow meshes are loaded from a BIN sequence by a custom loader plugin which does not create LWO files for the mesh. The problem has been fixed in version 1.2.2. The "Next Limit Plugin Manager" master plugin has to be added to the scene which writes out a LWO file to each mesh on save.

Why does my mesh switch to the default surface settings when I move the timeline?

Please check if the "Next Limit Manager" master plugin has been added to the scene. The surface information has been written to a SRF file in the mesh sequence folder. The surface itself is loaded by the master plugin for the surface replace event.
