Main Menu - Import

This menu entry provides three functions to access external files and scene data.

Opens the file picker to import one or more objects from SD files or other formats, such as OBJ or DXF. Please note that RealFlow only supports one SD per scene, but you can add more nodes by either importing them as LWO, ASC, OBJ, DXF and files or update the SD in your 3D program and export everything again. UV coordinates will be recognized. MultiBodies provide another method to load more than one SD file.

When you have collected numerous SD files in a single folder, you can use this function: it will load each SD file from the selected folder as an individual MultiBody node to your scene. Theoretically this is a method to bypass the one-SD-per-scene limitation, but only as long as the SD files do not contain any animation data, because MultiBodies do not support pre-animated objects.

You can also load any available BIN to the current scene.

The XML format is a versatile and flexible file format. RealFlow supports the Extended Markup Language format for easy data exchange. Nodes, previously saved with “Selected nodes as XML”, can be loaded again with this function. XML files can be edited and changed with any ASCII-capable text editor! In some situations it is also helpful to export nodes or even entire scenes for backup purposes. XML files are processed very fast, allocating only a few Kilobytes of hard disk space and are ideally suited to enable the exchange of scene data with other RealFlow users.
