Fracture Tools Basics

RealFlow's “Fracture” toolset consists of four individual applications:

"Voronoi Radial" requires further information and explanations of the parameters provided. You can find a reference under → "Voronoi Radial: Definitions".

The fragmentation process requires a few steps:

  1. Add and select the object(s) you want to fragment.

  2. Optional: create a helper object, e.g. a “Null” or any other geometry for use with advanced fragmentation modes (steering geometry, radial).

  3. Launch the desired “Fracture” tool from the icon bar or with “Tools > Fracture …”.

  4. Make your settings, or leave the default parameters, and click “OK”.

This process is non-destructive and the original objects are retained.

The “Apply globally” Option

Some “Fracture” tools provide an option called “Apply globally” – this function can only be applied on a single MultiBody.

Imagine an object that hits a floor consisting of individual tiles:

  • Without this option each tile will have a completely different pattern applied (left image below)
  • With "Apply globally" you will get a continuous crack instead (right image below).
