Mist - Mist

This is the place to manage and control the mist's behaviour and physical properties.

Cell size

Smaller values will create a better impression of mist with more details, but also take longer to simulate. This value is measured in metres.

Solver

We recommend using the “Fast” option. It is very reliable and much faster than the “Stable” method. You should only switch to “Stable” if you encounter problems.

Diffusion

This parameter controls the movement of particles between areas with high and low mist particle concentration. As a result, the mist clouds will expand.

Dissipation

This defines how fast the mist will disappear. With higher settings, the mist clouds will vanish faster.

Strength

The parameter value acts like multiplier for the mist's density. With values greater than 1.0 you can increase the mist’s density; values smaller than 1.0 lead to a more transparent cloud.

Velocity Scale

Particles, turning into mist, are able to influence the mist's velocity. With 0.0 particles will not contribute to this velocity field at all, while higher settings will accelerate the mist.

Radius threshold

A particles' radius ranges between 1 (birth) and 0 (death). Mist will be created when a particles' radius is greater than the given value. Values, closer to 1 create more mist.

The radius is controlled with the → "Splash min | max lifetime" and → "Wet min | max lifetime" parameters. These lifetime parameters have to be applied to the splash simulation before the mist pass.
