Objects - Node
This section contains everything that has to do with a node's orientation in the viewport and its simulation states.
Simulation
- “Active”. The node will be able contribute to the simulation.
- “Inactive”. The node is disabled and appears dimmed.
- “Cache”. Allows you to read already-simulated elements and use them for further interactions without re-simulating them, e.g. in other scenes.
Dynamics
The last three options append extra panels to the "Node Params" window. The appropriate settings are discussed separately under → "Objects - Rigid Body" and → "Objects - Soft Body". Here are your options:
- "No" turns off all dynamics features. These objects are able to interact with fluids, but cannot be moved by forces, fluids, rigid, and soft bodies. It is possible to animate objects without dynamics.
- “Active rigid body” turns the node into an object that can be moved by daemons, fluids, rigid, and soft bodies. It is not possible to animate active rigid bodies.
- “Passive rigid body” turns the node into an object that cannot be moved by fluids, rigid, and soft bodies. It is possible to animate passive rigid bodies.
- “Soft body” turns the node into a deformable object that can be moved by daemons, fluids, rigid, and soft bodies.
Position
A node's position in space is defined through X, Y, and Z components. RealFlow's → “Axis Setup” defines the vertical and horizontal axes. All values are given in metres. Click on “+” for parameter sliders.
Rotation
A node's rotation in space is defined through X, Y, and Z components. RealFlow's → “Axis Setup” defines the vertical and horizontal axes. All values are given in degrees. Click on “+” for parameter sliders.
Scale
A node's scale can be changed for each spatial direction separately. RealFlow's → “Axis Setup” defines the vertical and horizontal axes. All values are given in metres. Click on “+” for parameter sliders.
Shear
Some nodes, e.g. polygon objects, can be distorted. On many other node types, e.g. Hybrido domains or daemons, this function has no influence. RealFlow's → “Axis Setup” defines the vertical and horizontal axes. All values are given in metres. Click on “+” for parameter sliders.
Pivot
This is the centre of rotation given. By default it is located in the geometrical centre of an object, but can be displaced to achieve other interesting motions. RealFlow's → “Axis Setup” defines the vertical and horizontal axes. All values are given in metres. Click on "+" for parameter sliders.
Parent to
Click on the hyphen to choose a parent object. The node will then follow the parent's motions.
Color
Here you can specify a node's viewport colour. A click on the colour field opens your operating system's colour browser, a click on “+” shows → RGBA/HSV sliders.
File <-> Curve
Imported objects from Alembic and SD files are locked by default and it is not possible to change their position, scale, or rotation. To unlock an object, click on this button. Motion data from animated objects will be baked into keys.
Notes
It is possible to add node-specific notes here. Simply enter or copy/paste the text. With “+” you can expand the text field.
