DY - Fluid-Object Interaction

The interaction between Dyverso and objects is controlled with an object's → “Cell size” value and its → “Dyverso - Particles Interaction” parameter set.

Cell Size and Volume Mode

RealFlow creates an internal structure, a so-called signed distance field, to specify an object's inside and outside. The quality of this field depends on the “Cell size” parameter: the smaller the value, the better the field. This concept of inside and outside is also represented through the “Volume mode” option, which is essential for a correct interaction.

 

 

Solid outside

Particles collide with the object's inside and cannot leave it. because everything outside is considered solid. 

Solid inside

Particles collide with the object's outer surface, and the particles cannot enter the object's inside.

Shell

Particles collide with a fixed "frame" that is created around the object's inside and outside (= Cell size * 3). This mode is suited for open objects like glasses or vases.

 

 

Dyverso – Particle Interaction

The parameters of this section represent the interacting object's physical properties, for example friction or bounciness. You will also find a “DY Collision distance” parameter that puts an extra offset to the distance field:

 

 

  • This parameter describes the distance between the particles and an object's surface in metres.

  • Good values are around 1% of the object’s largest “Scale” value found under Node Params > Node.
