The RFRK for Houdini is available for all major operating systems. For Windows and Linux, 64 bit versions are required. The installation process itself is easy and supported by installers, helping you to finish this task within a few minutes. The different RFRK distributions can be downloaded from Next Limit's Customer Gateway. If you do not have an account yet, please contact Next Limit for registration and more information. Please also visit RealFlow's website periodically for information about updates and new versions.
Windows 64 bit
Download the latest RFRK version from the customer gateway and run the “.exe” file to start the installer. To proceed, click on the “Next” button; if you want to abort the installation process, choose “Cancel”. The installer automatically detects the installed Houdini version on your local drives and displays it in the appropriate field.
Once you have selected your settings, install the program files. Finally, click on “Finish” to complete the installation and close the wizard.
Macintosh OS X
For Macintosh's operating system there is an installer that will guide you through the entire installation process.
Choose the desired Houdini version(s) and click on “Install”. To finish the installation process, click on "Close".
Linux 64 bit
For Linux we provide a shell script installer in order to make it easy to change the default Houdini install folders. By default the package will install the RealFlow RenderKit in the
/opt/RealflowRenderKit2013
directory and will configure the Houdini plugins automatically. In the script the install path for Houdini can be changed.
If the plugins are installed for a different version (different/daily production build) of Houdini then it is very likely that the plugins will become unstable due to the changes SideFX may have made since the previous build.
