Node-locked license

Node locked licenses allow you to install on both your workstation + laptop, and do not have CPU/core limitations.

Who is it for?

Maxwell Render node locked licenses are for perfect for artists/freelancers working on their own who require the full set of features available in Maxwell Render, but who do not need to share licenses across a network or use cooperative rendering.

What does it contain?

A node locked license comes with the complete feature package (minus the networking tools): the render engine, Maxwell Studio, Materials Editor plus access to all available Maxwell Render plug-ins for a range of 3D and CAD applications, completely free of charge.

The facts

  • Node-locked licenses are used in Maxwell Render Suite Node-locked, Maxwell Render Learning Edition, Maxwell Render Student and Maxwell for SketchUp.
  • Node-locked licenses work exclusively on the computer where they are installed so they cannot be shared in a network and the network manager tools cannot be used (no network rendering).
  • The RLM License Server application is not required and does not need to be installed
  • Licenses can be activated on both your workstation and your laptop. If you exceed the number of permitted activations, you will receive a pop-up notification and your license will become blacklisted on our server. If you need to re-install after exceeding the limit, you must contact us.
  • Each node-locked license contains a "seat" and a "node" element. The seat element allows you to use any of the plugins and/or Maxwell Studio (for setup and editing), and the node element allows you to render (with the main Maxwell Render engine) and save output. All processes are limited to one computer only, although you can open as many instances as you wish in the same computer (of the plugins, Studio or Maxwell Render.exe)

Maxwell Render Suite Floating license

Who is it for?

Floating licenses are for users who require the full set of features available in Maxwell Render in a commercial / production environment, without restrictions of any kind.

What does it contain?

A floating license comes with the complete feature package: the render engine, Maxwell Studio, networking tools, Materials Editor plus access to all available Maxwell Render plug-ins for a range of 3D and CAD applications, completely free of charge.

The facts

  • Floating licenses are used in Maxwell Render Suite Floating and Maxwell Render Faculty.
  • Floating licenses are not attached to any particular computer, so your licenses can be shared across a network (via the RLM License Server application) among different computers. They can be requested by any computer in the network (where Maxwell Render is installed) and also used for cooperative/network rendering jobs.
  • Each Maxwell Render Suite Floating license comes with 10 extra rendernodes included.  So in addition to the render process on the computer where you are working, you also have 10 rendernodes which can be used on other machines in your network.
  • Floating license keys can be activated 3 times (this allows you to activate your license on a laptop or home computer outside of the network). If you exceed the number of permitted activations, you will receive a pop-up notification and your license will become blacklisted on our server. If you need to re-install after exceeding the limit, you must contact us.
  • Each floating license seat contains a "seat" and a "node" element as shown in the diagram above. The seat element allows you to use any of the plugins and/or Maxwell Studio (for set-up and editing), and the node element allows you to render (with the main Maxwell Render engine), save output, and use the network manager tools. You can open as many instances as you wish in a single computer (of the plugins, Studio or Maxwell Render.exe) without "using" more than one license.
  • You will need one full floating license for each user (who will need setup/editing functionality).
  • Floating licenses work per concurrent user: One single license can be installed on as many machines as you like, but it can only be used by one person at any one time. Maxwell Render licenses do not have CPU/core limitations. For example: in a company with 3 employees looking to use Maxwell Render at the same time (plus a few machines to use just for rendering), 3 floating (seat) licenses should be purchased.

Maxwell Rendernode license

Who is it for?

Rendernode licenses are for users who want to harness more machine power for cooperative/network rendering use, either through their own private render farm, or using networked workstations as render nodes.

What does it contain?

Maxwell rendernode licenses are not GUI or seat licenses; they cannot be used for setting up or editing scenes. They come with the Maxwell.exe render engine interface only (for controlling the render process)

The facts

  • Maxwell Rendernodes are floating licenses which allow you to distribute a render job over a number of machines in a network or farm to quickly obtain all the frames needed for a sequence or to calculate a very large image
  • Rendernodes can be shared across a network (via the RLM License Server application). They can be requested by any computer in the network (where Maxwell Render is installed).
  • Rendernodes must be used in conjunction with at least one floating seat license in the network
  • Rendernode licenses will allow you to use the Maxwell Render engine and the network manager tools as shown in the diagram above, but cannot be used for editing scenes.
  • Maxwell rendernode licenses are floating and work per concurrent machine: a license can be installed on as many machines as you like, but it can only run on one machine at any one time. Rendernode licenses do not have core limitations.

Maxwell Render Learning Edition license

Who is it for?

The Learning Edition for Maxwell Render is a version of Maxwell Render Suite for non-commercial, learning purposes - no student ID required. Using a Learning Edition license for commercial purposes is not permitted, and they are not valid for government or commercial research, even if this is being done within an educational institution.

What does it contain?

With Maxwell Render V3 there is just one Learning Edition license option - A node-locked permanent license (does not expire) which can be installed both on a workstation and a laptop. Minor updates are included within the same major version.  There is NO watermark on the render.

Restrictions

The Learning Edition has been adapted with the following minor restrictions to make it suitable for non-commercial use:

  • No network rendering features
