Cinema 4D provides a fully-featured cloth solver, and there are some 3rd party products available. Since a cloth simulation is a “Point Level Animation” where individual vertices are displaced, the export process requires the plugin's “vertex” option. The best way is to cache the cloth's PLA data:

  • Cloth Tag > Cache > Enable “Cache Mode”
  • Calculate Cache
  • Plugins > RealFlow > RealFlow SD Exporter
  • Add the cloth object to “Exported Objects”.
  • Activate the cloth object's “vertex” option.
  • Define animation range, file name and path.
  • Export the objects.

With deformable soft bodies the workflow is exactly the same. First, cache the body's vertex displacement and export everything with the plugin's “vertex” option.

If you encounter problems, e.g. missing PLA information, misbehaving objects, or anything that is obviously wrong, we recommend using Cinema 4D's “Cappucino” tool. With this helper it is possible to record the PLA displacement. Please take a look at the “... Export Deformers?” chapter for a complete description about how to work with “Cappucino”.
