The Max plugin has multiple ways to export nodes as Maxwell Volumetric extensions:

  • Volumetric node: the volumetric extension equivalent
  • Volumetric modifier: node that gets attached to Max particles or PFlow particles and marks them to be exported as a volumetric extension

Volumetric Node

The volumetric node is a Max node that gets exported as a Volumetric extension. To create a volumetric node click the MxVolumetric button in the Maxwell category from the max Create toolbar. This will create a default node set to constant density.

There are no attributes specific to Max. All the parameters are explained on the Volumetric extension page in the main Maxwell documentation.

Volumetric Modifier

The Maxwell Volumetric Modifier is a modifier that can be added to particle nodes or PFlow sources to tell the plugin to export the particles as a volumetric extension.

The volumetric modifier parameters are a subset of the volumetric extension parameters. A more in depth explanation of the effect of each parameter can be found on the Volumetric extension page in the main Maxwell documentation.
