Particle Selection
When you choose this function, RealFlow will open a window and automatically switch to selection mode.
The "Particle Selection" icon.
Please note that you can only perform standard particle selections including splash and foam. Core particles of grid fluid emitters are not affected. The “Particle Selection” window can be left open during the selection process and you have the possibility to access the underlying GUI elements.
Add group
A selection is performed by simply dragging a rectangle around the region of interest. Please keep in mind that this tool will select all particles, not only those directly visible to the user, because a back culled selection is not possible. Multi-selections can be performed with a pressed Shift key; to deselect particles use the Ctrl (Windows/Linux) or Cmd (OS X) key. To store the current choice, click on “Add group”. RealFlow automatically assigns a unique name to the group that is displayed under "Selection". Selected particles are displayed in green.
It is also possible to create more than one group. To do this, simply perform a new selection and click on “Add group” In this case, RealFlow will assign the standard names “group1”, “group2” and so on. If you want to update a group, click on this button as well. Particles that already belong to a group can also be a member of another group. Simply create a new selection and press “Add group” again.
Selection
Here, the name that has been automatically assigned to the group is displayed. If there is more than one group in your scene you will see a drop-down menu with all available selections. The currently displayed group is also the one that is visible in the viewport.
Rename group
With this function it is possible to change a group's current name.
Freeze-Follow
With this tool you can define a group of particles and freeze them. Other particles can collide and react with the frozen ones and create interesting effects. It is no problem to stop the simulation at an arbitrary point, make a selection, and go on with the calculation. From this certain position on, the particles will be frozen. Please note that frozen particles cannot be released again and will remain steady, even after you have deleted the group.
Total particles / Current particles
These two fields are for statistical purposes and show the number of particles in the current group.
Delete group
This button removes a group without deleting its particles.
Remove particles
When you click on this button. RealFlow keeps the group, but deletes the included particles.
