Domain - Maxwell Render
In RealFlow, photorealistic previews can be created with an implementation of Next Limit Technologies' Maxwell Render engine. With this parameter it is possible to configure the node's render options. To use the Maxwell Render engine inside RealFlow, please go to the “Preferences” window and choose:
Preview > Render Options > Renderer > Maxwell Render
Renderable
Each node can be excluded from the render with this switch. With “Yes” (the default setting) the node will be visible in the preview. Please note that the node's viewport visibility is not taken into consideration by default, and the “Yes” and “No” states work independently from the “Set Selected Visible” and “Set Selected Hidden” options. If you want to use the current state of visibility in the viewport for the node, choose “Same as display”.
Material
With any render, materials and surface properties play an important role in terms of realism and credibility. Here it is possible to assign a material to the node for the render process – the surface properties do not have any influence on the object's viewport representation. The parameter's drop-down menu provides the following choices:
From Node | Uses the colour from the “Node” panel. |
---|---|
From File | You can also load a Maxwell Render material (“MXM”) file from an external source. The Maxwell Render website provides thousands of ready-to-use materials. If you have a Maxwell Render license, please feel free to create your own materials with the material editor or Maxwell Studio. |
Predefined | RealFlow already comes with a selection of predefined materials for different applications, e.g. “water_ocean” or “sss_honey”. |
@ File
This parameter becomes unlocked when “Material” is set to “From File”. You can browse your hard disk or network for available Maxwell Render material files and use them with your render. This parameter is dimensionless and does not have an upper limit.
MultiPoint
Splashes, foam or spray simulations require an enormous amount of particles to look realistic. The “MultiPoint” feature from the RealFlow RenderKit can create millions of additional particles within a few minutes. The integer value you have to enter here is the number of additional particles per existing particle. These new particles will not be added to the simulation or the cache files and are only visible in the render. With 0, only the existing particles will be rendered.
Dispersion
This parameter is directly related to the “MultiPoint” feature. RealFlow creates the new particles within a certain radius around the particle and here you can specify this radius. This parameter accepts floats and is given in metres [m].
Radius
Here you can specify the size of the particles in your Maxwell Render preview. In cases where the particles are hardly visible, appear too small or too big, you can define a new radius here. “Radius” is only available in combination with the “MultiPoint” option. This parameter accepts floats and is given in metres [m].
