Cinema - Installation
System Requirements
The Maxwell for Cinema plugin runs on all versions of Cinema 4D R14 and greater. There is one package for Windows and one for OSX which contains the software for all versions of Cinema 4D:
- Maxwell for Cinema 4D-version#-R14-R18.zip
- Maxwell for Cinema 4D-version#-R14-R18.dmg
Each package contains the components necessary to run on its version of Cinema 4D, on either Windows or Mac OSX. The OS requirements are:
- Windows: Vista or better, 64-bit, CUDA 5.0 and up for the GPU engine.
- Mac OSX: 10.9 or better, on Intel CPUs and CUDA 5.0 and up for the GPU engine.
Installation
In Windows, the plugin is delivered as a zip file, which should be unzipped and it includes the executable file (installer). This executable file will install the plugin and the required version of Maxwell Render for that version to work, but you can choose not to install Maxwell Render if you already have that version in your computer. The download also includes a vcredist folder, containing installers for the Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime required by that plugin, which should be installed when running on Windows.
In OSX, you will get a .dmg file that launches the installer window shown below that helps with the process.
Floating licenses.
In Windows the package also includes a file called maxwell_license_manager_win64.exe that installs the RLM license manager in your machine. This should be installed in one, and only one, machine in your network. All your floating licenses should be activated in the computer running the RLM. The rest of the computers have to be connected to the RLM to get their licenses. For more information, please check this link: Floating license activation.
In OSX you can install the RLM license server by double clicking the proper icon in the installation window. Check this link for more information about floating licenses: Floating license activation
