Daemon : Falloff

Adjust a daemon's falloff. The following daemons have a falloff option: Attractor, Gravity, Wind, Vortex, Noise Field, k Volume, k Speed, k Age, k Isolated.

Falloff gizmo

The falloff shape can be transformed independently: just click on the Falloff option below the daemon and start modifying it on 3ds Max viewport.

Active

Enable or disable the falloff effect for the daemon.

Show Falloff

Enable this option to view a representation of the falloff bounds in the viewport. It is not valid for the Object mode.

Falloff Length | Falloff Width | Falloff Height

These parameters are used to scale the falloff volume's viewport gizmo along the XYZ axes individually.

Falloff Percent

This value is used to increase or decrease the falloff area – the inner falloff limit is represented by a red volume; the outer limit is the bigger, white volume.

  • Values should range between 0.0 and 100.0 (= no falloff).
  • Negative settings are also valid and can be used to extend the falloff area beyond the gizmo's outer limit.
  • The greater the value, the earlier the force falloff starts (= the smaller the inner red volume).
  • With 0.0 the falloff area is 0 as well – the gizmo cubes/spheres have exactly the same size.
  • In Object mode the "Falloff Percent" represents the distance from the object surface.
Falloff Bounds

Your options are:

  • "Plane". A red and a white 2D plane appears. "Falloff Height" controls the distance between both planes.
  • “Box”. This is the standard representation and the space between the two cubes defines the falloff area.
  • “Sphere”. Instead of two boxes you will see the two spheres.
  • “Object". Here, an object is used to calculate the falloff's shape. The associated object(s) are specified under "Falloff Objects".
Objects

With Falloff Bounds > Object you can choose one or more objects to determine the falloff's shape.

Decay Type

Here you can choose how fast the forces will vanish towards the falloff's outer limit (= white gizmo box). There are five options, while "Cubic" represents the fastest falloff.

Invert Falloff

By default the falloff goes from the gizmo's inner volume to the outer volume, but it can be inverted with this option.

Falloff Parented

Tie the falloff to the daemon's translations.
