The settings under “Display” are used to visualize the particles' attributes. Different colours can be used to mimic certain behaviour or a particular fluid type, e.g. fire or dust. The mode of operation is very similar to the “Display” panels of RealFlow's → SPH emitters and → Hybrido domains.

Show Point/Particle Cloud (C4D, LWV, MYA)
When you activate this feature then the particle cloud will be displayed in the viewport.
Display As (C4D, LWV)
Simply use one of the primitives to represent the particles in the 3D program's viewport. This option does not affect the rendered image.
Circle Direction (C4D)
If you have chosen "Circles" from the "Display as" menu you can determine the circles' orientation here. This option does not affect the rendered image.
Level of Detail (C4D, LWV), Particles LOD (MYA), Points Display % (XSI)
This parameter works on a percentage basis: if your file contains 100,000 particles, for example, then a "Level of detail" value of 50 will display around 50,000 particles. This option does not affect the rendered image.
Show Mesh (C4D, LWV, MYA)
Instead of test-render each change during the meshing process you can also show the mesh in the viewport. It will be updated either automatically (if available) or with "Update mesh" button. Please keep in mind that very large meshes normally need some time until they become visible.
Mesh LOD (MYA)
The mode of operation is exactly the same as described above, but here the mesh is affected.
Auto Update Frame (C4D, LWV, MYA), Update Mode (XSI)
With this function the mesh will be updated automatically with each frame of your animation. Depending on the size of your mesh this process can require some time. If you want to render animations, this option must be checked.
Update Mesh
If you want to update the viewport's mesh view manually, please use this button.
Triangle Count (MYA)
This read-only field shows the absolute number of triangles.
Show Channel
If you want to visualize a channel just select one from the drop-down menu. The particles will be displayed with the adjusted colours. Some channels do not show any difference, because they only have constant values, e.g. mass. Please read more about channels → here.
Channel Color (C4D) | Color Min/Color Max (LWV) | Start Color/End Color (MYA, XSI)
The colours, defined here, will be used to dye the particles based on the chosen channel.
Automatic Range
When this option is set to “Yes” the channel's minimum and maximum values are read from the particle sequence directly. The current extreme can be seen under “Current Min” and “Current Max”. With automatically read values, the particles' colours often lack contrast. In order to enhance contrast, deactivate “Automatic Range”, and define new values under “Min Value” and “Max Value”.
Min Value/Max Value
Please read the description from “Automatic Range” to learn how this feature works.
Current Min/Current Max
These read-only fields tell you about the current minimum and maximum values of the active channel at the current frame.
