Shelves File

File input field

RealFlow 2014 allows you to create your own shelves and populate them with different commands. All these settings and definitions have to be stored, of course, and this is done in the “RealFlowShelves.xml” file. Here you will find the path to this file. The input field's content will be substituted if you choose another location to store the file. It is also possible to enter a path manually.

A click on this button opens a file browser to choose an alternative location for the XML file.

Default

To restore the standard path of the XML file, click on this button.

The "RealFlowShelves Environment Variable"

If you are working in a network then it is usually necessary to provide the information from the “RealFlowShelves.xml” file globally for all RealFlow installations. This way, all users will have access to the same collection of shelves. Of course, it is possible to store the file anywhere and point to it with the “File” button described above. But, for multiple RealFlow licenses this can be a very tedious task. A much more fashionable way is to define an environment variable:

 RF_SHELVES_FILE_PATH

For example:

RF_SHELVES_FILE_PATH=/mnt/file_server/realflow/RealFlowShelves.xml

When this variable is defined, all RealFlow installations will look for the “RealFlowShelves.xml” file under the path specified there.

Appearance

Icon size

To change the size of the shelves' icons, simply choose one of the entries from the drop-down menu.

Display shelf button text

Here you decide whether you want to show the command's name together with the icon or if you only want to see the icon.

Ellipsis position

Some command descriptions are too long to be displayed completely. By default they are truncated and you will see something like “Mist per I...” which reads as “Mist per IDOC”. In that case, the right part of the description is truncated and this mode is called “Right elide”. The menu provides several other options to display the text:

  • Right elide. The right part of the text is truncated, e.g. “Mist per I...”.

  • Middle elide: The middle part of the text is truncated, e.g. “Mist ... DOC”.

  • Left elide. The left part of the text is truncated, e.g. “... per IDOC”.

  • No elide. The text is shown completely, but might be cropped at shelf button's edges.

Allow shelf content scroll

If a shelf's content cannot be displayed completely you can scroll to the currently invisible entries. Please uncheck this option to disable scrolling.
