  • Added: support for modo 901
  • Added: new parameter "Luminosity Multiplier" has been added to modo AdvancedMaterial. It helps to control the material luminosity conversion to Maxwell.
  • Improved: instanced procedural geometries are exported - these were not exported in the past (these will be normal geometries in Maxwell not instances)
  • Improved (needs modo901) : the export method of procedural geometries have been improved. FIRE can follow modo procedural geometry change.

  • Old modo scene files with aperture and/or obstacle map setting: modo will search for the files at file load, because it won't find them with the old settings. Please select the files again in the file open dialog and re-save the scene.
  • Old scene files with custom export directory: Maxwell Render item setting "Export Directory" will be invalid, please browse for the custom directory again. (Otherwise it will use the default export directory.)
Changes:
  • Improved: Missing files handling - in case modo can't find file path defined for Maxwell Extension item, it will offer a file open dialog at scene load.

KNOWN ISSUES (modo SDK limitations):

modo 501:

  •  Maxwell Extension ui doesn't work (you can change extension parameters in the item channel view).
  •  Automatic FIRE refresh for Replicator items not possible.

  •  Maxwell Extension ui doesn't display ui structure groups and extension parameters names are displayed with the original channel names.

KNOWN ISSUES (not implemeted yet):
  •  Maxwell extension objects doesn't have uv coordinates inside modo.
  •  Maxwell extension objects have only one material or part tag (even in case the object have multimaterial).

Changes:

GENERAL

  • Changed: Handles the new Maxwell license system (if it can't find valid license at modo start, it runs the license activator automatically).
  • Added: Plugin saves the actual plugin version as a Render item channel. In case plugins recognizes that scene was saved with a newer version than the actual, it gives warning message.
    Version control also checks extension items.....
  • Changed: default export directory has been removed from the plugin directory. New location is at "<user>\My Documents\Maxwell\modo" (under Windows) or "<user folder>/Maxwell/modo" (under OSX).

  • Improved: automatic conversion roughness parameter export tweaked. Maxwell result is more close visually to modo original.

    In case the extension have Texture Map parameters, these parameters can be attached to ShaderTree effects, so the values (map, color or amount) will be collected form the ShaderTree according to the effect.
  • Added: Export textures created by the Substance Designer plugin. (not finished yet - do we cover all the possible formats?)
  • Improved: Plugin handles ShaderTree group masking by Selection sets

Changes:
  • New texture baking mode ADDED, because the original method was instable under modo 701. There is a new control in the plugin Preferences Window > Export tab to switch between old and new method (new method is the default).
    The new method is called "External" because baking happens in the background not on the active modo screen. In External mode user doesn't see the baking process (instead a system console window).
    Under modo 701 it is recommended to use the new "External" baking method!

  • FIRE responses for mesh creation/removal (in case FIRE "Geometry Update" flag is ON)
  • Better Replicator export (not available under modo 501). The switch "Fast" or "Precise" mode has been removed because it is not needed anymore. Plugin can export replicators as those are seen in the modo viewport.
  • (Windows only) plugin automatically closes render window after automatic texture baking (only in “Internal” baking mode).
